Adding a Personal Touch

One of the reasons I like the templates offered by Roseytoes Designs is that they provide a basic structure for a page yet allow for and work with many variations of design. Take as an example this page done using the Family Rules set. The foundation of blocking is provided and in this case I just shifted everything to the left which allowed room for a border and some brush work and of course a title.

Not only are the Family Rules Templates versatile but are also currently a bargain at 50% off.

LOTW Nomination at Gingersnaps

Found out Sunday evening that I have been honored with a nomination for LOTW at Gingersnaps. They make selections from layouts which ware uploaded during the previous week and then those pages are posted in the forum where voting takes place. Any registered member of the community is eligible to vote for their favorite.

The page which was chosen, Don't Stumble, was made using Angie Young's Come On Get Happy kit available at Digitals.  The photo of flowers in the backyard was given a watercolor effect using Brady Murry's  Ultimate Artist Set which is an action, brushes and textures, and is available at Scrapgirls. The photo was then blended onto a worn paper, text added and then  applied to the page.

Transformation

Today the Follow Your Art team has released their new co-ordinating kits Transformation. The color palette is a blend of soft roses and mauves. The elements, borders, word art and papers are all muted tones which call to mind the first moments of a new beginning much like the colors of early morning light.

Here is a page I did using Aria's portion. It is offered as individual sets or as a bundle and can be found at Digitals.

Discover Inspirations

This Saturday's Follow Your Art blog post is all about Discovery, featuring June's FYA Discover kits. The post shows some inspiration from the FYA Gallery at Digitals.

Collage

Collage is a style of scrapping which lies between traditional and artsy. It may or may not utilize photos but usually includes imagery of some sort. Odds and ends, bits of lace and scraps of paper all are used with items layered one upon the other.

Angie Young is a designer who has perfected the creation and collection of materials suitable for making collages, be they digital or mixed media, Her most recent kit is called Dance of Nature and is available at Digitals. It features warm forrest greens and soft tans, includes lots of goodies to play with and the Borders are detailed with stitching and artsy paint splatters.

This page Women are Like Buttons was made with Angie's Dance of Nature and an image from Far Far Hill.

Artsy Style

This term gets used in digi forums and galleries but I don't really understand just what exactly it means. Where is the line drawn that separates a traditional layout from an artsy one? Is the designation simply based on each person's sense of "Artiness?"

Whatever the words are to describe artsy, I know it when I see it and ARTSY will be one of the focuses on the blog. So this first post will feature a page called Discover the Goddess Within. It was created using Cilenia Curitis' Follow Your Art Discover, Art Wings 1, and Art Box 15. These products can be found at Digitals. The image of the woman was from a free down load from Far Far Hill.

What's Up?

Dusting off the blog, giving it a fresh face, and venturing off in new directions. Mostly this site will feature Digital Scrapbooking products, and the art created with those products.  Many different styles and designers will be highlighted and hopefuly growth will follow.
